Human Resources (HR) Assistant

The Human Resources (HR) Assistant is a credentialed professional who performs daily administrative and human resources duties in an organisation. His/Her duties include assisting with recruitment, payroll processing, compiling and maintaining records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Oversees HR events and meetings and coordinating management-employee communications
  • Compiles and maintains paper, digital and electronic employee records, including holiday and sickness leaves
  • Maintains calendars of the HR management team.
  • Processes payroll and assisting with the documentation of employee compensation and benefits
  • Answers all employee questions about HR regulations and benefits
  • Supports HR-related training programs, workshops and seminars
  • Arranges for advertising or posting of job vacancies, and notifies eligible workers of position availability
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business management, labor relations, or related field.
  • Proven previous work experience as a Human Resources (HR) Assistant
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools.

Skills needed for this role

The Human Resources (HR) Assistant must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. He/She must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Having excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are also essential for this role.
