The System Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. The System Administrator will install hardware and software, and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of their organization. The System administrator also actively resolves problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages network servers and technology tools
- Sets up accounts and workstations
- Ensures security through access controls, backups and firewalls
- Monitors performance and maintain systems according to requirements
- Troubleshoots issues and outages
- Upgrades systems with new releases and models
- Installs and configures software and hardware
- Develops expertise to train staff on new technologies
- Builds an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
- A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans

The System Administrator must have excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills. He/She must have the ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines. He/She must have excellent communication skills and strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices.
