The Curriculum Designer is an education professional whose job is to identify the performance, skills, knowledge, information and attitude gaps of a targeted audience and create, select and/or suggest learning experiences to fill this gap. He/She provides faculty with course design support in creating effective and engaging learning environments informed by desired learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates stimulating lesson plans and recommends interesting additional resources.
- Works with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs
- Sets instructional end goals and create content that matches them
- Oversees implementation of online learning programs
- Trains instructors, students, and employees in how to use learning technologies.
- Works with technical staff to troubleshoot problems reported by users.
- Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc)
- Keeps current on best practices in instructional design.
- Provides instructional design support to faculty through consultation with individuals and collaborative course design teams
- Oversees implementation of online learning programs
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in instructional design, education, or related field
- Master’s degree in educational technology or related field is preferred
- Previous working experience as a Curriculum Designer for 3 years
- State Educator or Administrator license, preferred
- Strong planning skills, vision, and creative intelligence.
- Experience collaborating with a variety of academic and administrative offices within a college/university.
- Familiar with website design, video technology and editing

Having a decent level of comfort with and understanding of basic web design concepts is required for this role.
