Budget Managers evaluate the financial needs of an organization, developing budget strategies to increase the company’s profitability. They design and implement the company’s financial plans to comply with legislation and ensure business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews operating budgets periodically to analyze trends affecting budget needs
- Participates in the conceptual development of the various budget processes and specifications for all projects
- Prepares many reports relevant to the budget for various departments
- Manages the annual budget
- Responsible for requesting budget changes, submitting transfers, approving transactions and requesting payments
- Participates in the planning and implementation of the annual initial operating budget, including salary increase planning and processing, tuition income forecasting and analyses, and budgetary allocations and reallocations
- Presents budgets to upper management on an annual basis
- Analyzes financial information/processes (e.g. cash management, expenditures, and revenues) for ensuring that all operations remain within budget
- Responds to inquiries related to budget issues
- Analyzes revenues, expenditures and cash management
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
- Must be a CPA, preferably with MBA or Masters degree
- Prior experience as a Budget Analyst, Budget Manager or a similar role
- Experience with data analysis and forecasting methods
- Experience with statistical packages and accounting software
- Sound knowledge of MS Excel, especially pivot tables, charts and advanced formulas

He/She must be highly analytical with the proficiency to perform data analysis to support business decisions. Strong communication skills, a keen eye for details and an analytical mind with a problem-solving attitude are essential for this role.
