The Millwright enjoys working with their hands and has strong mechanical skills. He/She might also be referred to as industrial mechanic, works in factory or manufacturing settings and is mainly responsible for assembling and repairing machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Moves equipment and machinery as needed throughout your shift either manually or with the proper and safe use of equipment
- Uses a variety of hand tools, measuring tools, and equipment for cutting, welding and brazing to adequately fulfill your daily job duties
- Utilizes cranes and trucks to complete large-scale projects
- Decides which machines, techniques and tools are the best option for moving equipment and completing all necessary jobs
- Assists machinery maintenance workers as well as industrial machinery mechanics as needed to help make sure the plant and all machines operate at peak efficiency
- Packages and categorize machine parts after taking them apart with accuracy and according to the company’s standards and specific project requirements
- Cleans up at the end of shift to make sure your job site remains well-organized and free of unnecessary clutter
- Take steps to ensure every job is done in a manner that’s safe and completed according to the latest workplace safety regulations, laws and requirements
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Completion of a two-year associate’s degree program in industrial maintenance preferred
- In-depth knowledge of construction equipment and machinery
- Completion of an accredited millwright certificate program
- Current knowledge of the latest industry safety measures, precautions and equipment
Skills needed for this role
The Millwright must have good communication skills and must have strong attention to detail with excellent mathematical skills. He/She must be able to work well in a team environment.
