Accounting Assistant

Accounts assistants provide administrative support to accountants, undertaking clerical tasks such as typing, filing, making phone calls, handling mail and basic bookkeeping. They perform clerical tasks, including processing and recording transactions, preparing reports and budgets, fielding communications with clients and vendors, fact-checking, filing, and other duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconciles account information and reported figures in general ledger by comparing to bank account statements each month
  • Maintains clean and organized files by keeping accounts payable records up-to-date
  • Works with spreadsheets, sales and purchase ledgers and journals
  • Reconciles invoices and identifies discrepancies
  • Calculates and checks to make sure payments, amounts and records are correct
  • Assists management with finalization of annual expense plans
  • Issues invoices to customers based on services rendered and/or goods sold
  • Directs clients to appropriate accountants, answers phone calls and replies to office emails for excellent customer service

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Graduate of BS Accounting or similar related courses
  • Proficiency with computers and bookkeeping software, strong typing skills
  • Must be adept in handling computer software like MS Excel
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles

Accounting Assistants must have the Commitment to work efficiently and accurately. They should have a professional manner and a strong ethical code is required to maintain a good working environment. Knowledge of accounting terminology is essential.
