Accounting Manager

Accounting managers supervise accountants. They create systems and processes for analyzing and reporting financial information, ensure organizations follow legal and regulatory requirements, and recommend improvements for business procedures. Depending on their business, accounting managers may also prepare annual budgets, track financial data, and make recommendations on financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages banking reconciliations and monthly balance sheet statements
  • Supports change management by understanding and addressing impacts of new accounting policies, financial statement initiatives and non-standard transactions
  • Bolsters revenues by creating codes for accounting tasks, cost estimation and revenue generation
  • Implements budget and expense controls and financial policies by analyzing income and expenditures
  • Applies mathematical abilities to calculate and check figures in accounting systems
  • Proposes and publishes metrics and KPIs to be incorporated into monthly financials and scorecards
  • Investigates daily variances and corrected errors to resolve discrepancies
  • Tracks business revenue and expenditures and reconciled accounts to maintain high accuracy
  • Applies proper codes to invoices, files and receipts to keep records organized and easily searchable
  • Keeps up-to-date and accurate funding accounts for internal departments, key programs and special projects

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements

Skills needed for this role

Accounting Managers must be proactive and flexible with excellent communication skills, numeracy and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills are key in order to build and maintain good relationships internally and externally and they also require good people management and leadership skills.
