Architect

The Architect creates designs for new construction projects, alterations and redevelopments. He/She uses his/her specialist construction knowledge and high-level drawing skills to design buildings that are functional, safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications
  • Develops and presentis project proposals
  • Prepares drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Specifies project requirements
  • Presents the ideas, objectives, requirements and budget of a project and in some cases help to select a site
  • Puts together design proposals depending on clients’ needs and wants
  • Organizes and manages permit documents
  • Complies with safety standards and local planning regulations
  • Adapts plans according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field, MA in Architecture is preferred
  • Proven experience as an Architect in previous companies
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Newforma, etc
  • In-depth knowledge of building and construction process and operations
  • Ability to produce 2D and 3D design drawings for meeting presentations
  • Must be knowledgeable in the applicable building codes

Skills needed for this role

The Architect must be able to visualize space in three dimensions, have a good understanding of construction technologies, and be an effective project manager. He/She must have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate superior technical design skills and be able to create designs that are functional, creative, and sustainable.
