The Architect creates designs for new construction projects, alterations and redevelopments. He/She uses his/her specialist construction knowledge and high-level drawing skills to design buildings that are functional, safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications
- Develops and presentis project proposals
- Prepares drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Specifies project requirements
- Presents the ideas, objectives, requirements and budget of a project and in some cases help to select a site
- Puts together design proposals depending on clients’ needs and wants
- Organizes and manages permit documents
- Complies with safety standards and local planning regulations
- Adapts plans according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field, MA in Architecture is preferred
- Proven experience as an Architect in previous companies
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Newforma, etc
- In-depth knowledge of building and construction process and operations
- Ability to produce 2D and 3D design drawings for meeting presentations
- Must be knowledgeable in the applicable building codes
Skills needed for this role
The Architect must be able to visualize space in three dimensions, have a good understanding of construction technologies, and be an effective project manager. He/She must have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate superior technical design skills and be able to create designs that are functional, creative, and sustainable.
