The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) plans and develops policies to help an organization be successful. He/She works closely with the organization’s board of directors. He/She also functions as the Managing Director of corporate operations and serves as the link between the different departments of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates, communicates, and implements the organization’s vision, mission, and direction
- Leads the development and implementation of the overall organization’s strategy
- Seeks advice and guidance, when appropriate, from a Board of Directors
- Formulates and implements the strategic plan that guides the direction of the business or organization
- Oversees the complete operation of an organization in accordance with the direction established in the strategic plans
- Evaluates the success of the organization in reaching its goals
- Looks at potential acquisitions or the sale of the company under circumstances that will enhance shareholder value
- Represents the organization for civic and professional association responsibilities and activities in the local community, the state, and at the national level
- Participates in industry-related events or associations that will enhance the CEO’s leadership skills, the organization’s reputation, and the organization’s potential for success
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a relevant discipline
- MBA is preferred
- Experience in a senior management position
- In depth knowledge of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management, and general finance and budgeting
- Understanding of human resources and personnel management
