Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) plans and develops policies to help an organization be successful. He/She works closely with the organization’s board of directors. He/She also functions as the Managing Director of corporate operations and serves as the link between the different departments of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates, communicates, and implements the organization’s vision, mission, and direction
  • Leads the development and implementation of the overall organization’s strategy
  • Seeks advice and guidance, when appropriate, from a Board of Directors
  • Formulates and implements the strategic plan that guides the direction of the business or organization
  • Oversees the complete operation of an organization in accordance with the direction established in the strategic plans
  • Evaluates the success of the organization in reaching its goals
  • Looks at potential acquisitions or the sale of the company under circumstances that will enhance shareholder value
  • Represents the organization for civic and professional association responsibilities and activities in the local community, the state, and at the national level
  • Participates in industry-related events or associations that will enhance the CEO’s leadership skills, the organization’s reputation, and the organization’s potential for success

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • MBA is preferred
  • Experience in a senior management position
  • In depth knowledge of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management, and general finance and budgeting
  • Understanding of human resources and personnel management

Skills needed for this role

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) must have proven negotiation skills and the ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions. He/She must have the ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate. Having excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
