Data Protection Officer

The Data Protection Officer oversees an organization’s data protection strategy and implementation. He/She ensures that an organization is complying with GDPR regulations protecting personal data. He/She serves as the point of contact between a company and any supervisory authorities that oversee data privacy-related activities

Key Responsibilities

  • Informs and advises the and employees how to be GDPR compliant and how to comply with other data protection laws
  • Manages internal policies and make sure the company is following them through
  • Raises awareness and provide staff training for any employees involved with processing activities
  • Provides advice regarding the data protection impact assessment and monitor its performance
  • Gives advice and recommendations to the company about the interpretation or application of the data protection rules
  • Reports any failure to comply with the GDPR or applicable data protection rules
  • Monitors compliance with GDPR or other data protection law
  • Identifies and evaluate the company’s data processing activities
  • Maintains the records of processing operations

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors and Master’s Degree in IT or relevant field is necessary
  • Strong understanding of the processing operations carried out
  • Thorough understanding of information technologies and data security
  • In depth knowledge of the business sector and the organization
  • Ability to promote a data protection culture within the organization.

Skills needed for this role

The Data Protection Officer must have strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving skills, leadership skills, and attention to detail. He/She must have the ability to accurately interpret documents and policies and strong time management and organizational skills.
