Finance Assistant

Finance Assistant provides support to day-to-day transactions, including expenses and payroll. Finance Assistant responsibilities include processing payments, maintaining cost reports and managing invoices. Assisting the finance director in managing, processing and troubleshooting various accounts and transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processes and prepares financial and business forms for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc.
  • Performs routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the finance director
  • Helps oversee and manage individual accounts
  • Creates, sends, and follows up on invoices
  • Review and adhere to department budgets
  • Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets
  • Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct
  • Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and/or clients
  • Reports any troubling discoveries or suspicion of wrongdoing to the proper authorities
  • Collects information for and prepare payroll payments for employees
  • Assists the financial director in creating financial reports on a regular basis
  • Adheres to the company’s or organization’s financial policies and procedures
  • Answers question and provide assistance to stakeholders, customers, and clients as needed
  • Attends finance department and company-wide meetings, sometimes assisting with financial reporting to managers and senior executives
  • Suggests changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • Work experience as a Finance Assistant
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors
  • BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • Skills needed for this role

Finance Assistant must have an understanding of data privacy standards; have integrity; honesty; customer-service skills; solid communication skills, both written and verbal; familiarity with business principles and practices; superior attention to detail; organizational skills; planning skills; problem-solving skills; analytical skills; critical thinking skills; computer skills, particularly with spreadsheets and calculation software.
