Information Technology (IT) Trainer

The Information Technology (IT) Trainer designs and delivers training courses on a wide range of computer software applications. He/She is responsible for training IT staff and end users on the proper operation of computer equipment, hardware devices, and software applications. He/She is also responsible for providing training/instructions on how to troubleshoot system applications to increase productivity and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts training needs analysis and define the skill sets needed to accomplish different roles
  • Designs training programmes appropriate to the skills needed
  • Conducts performance appraisal to establish the skills gap between current and desirable learner skill levels
  • Ensures that the learning environment and resources support learner needs
  • Presents training to end-users
  • Designs technical manuals using simple language
  • Performs technology training sessions for IT department staff as required
  • Trains new employees on proper use of hardware and software
  • Revises training presentations and schedules for Site IT department training as needed
  • Supports and coaches learners using learning technologies to deliver skills

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources or relevant field
  • Proven work experience as a Information Technology (IT) Trainer
  • Strong technical aptitude and expertise (Excel, Word, Power Point, Learning Management Systems)
  • Familiarity with web-based learning platforms and modern educational techniques

Skills needed for this role

The Information Technology (IT) Trainer must have an aptitude for IT and an up-to-date knowledge of common applications and systems. He/She must have comprehensive computing capabilities for more specialist areas and good oral and written communication skills.
