A Junior Accountant is an entry-level position in an accounting firm or department. Main duties include posting journal entries, updating financial statements, maintaining accounts receivable and accounts payable, paying monthly payroll, and preparing financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains financial records for subsidiary companies by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts
- Maintains accounts payable, ensure timely payment of invoices, confirming validity of the debt and gathering appropriate signatures
- Analyzes financial information and prepares balance sheets
- Prepares quarterly budget under the purview of senior management
- Reconciles general and subsidiary bank accounts by gathering and balancing information
- Ensures compliance with organizational guidelines and procedures, and federal and state regulations
- Updates financial records via accounting software
- Assists in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
Job Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related (essential)
- Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) certificate is an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. SAP)
- 1 year of accounting work experience is essential
- Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
