Payroll Accountant

Payroll accountants process salary payments to employees. Their responsibilities include calculating salaries, updating payroll systems with employee information, and preparing internal and external tax reports. They may also conduct internal audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers human resources financial support by certifying and processing payroll, completing deposits, performing pay adjustments and promptly distributing checks
  • Conducts detailed technical and analytical review of federal/state corporate, partnership and S corporation tax returns, FAS 109 provisions, and quarterly estimates prepared by associates
  • Compiles general ledger entries on a short schedule with 100% accuracy
  • Calculates payroll deductions by accurately using company software and processed payroll to meet preset requirements
  • Determines financial and operational audit areas, providing most economical and efficient use of audit resources
  • Identifies management control weaknesses and provides value added suggestions for remediation
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Calculates net wages after taking into consideration deductions and exemptions
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field such as business administration, finance, statistics, actuarial science or economics
  • Must have at least 3 experience in the related field
  • Must be knowledgeable in Account Balance Reconciliation
  • Has exposure in Audit
  • Has knowledge in SAP system
  • Must have experience in Advanced MS Excel (Pivot & V-look up)
