Porter

The Porter is primarily responsible for the cleaning and housekeeping of a building. He/She conducts routine rounds of rooms and facilities, where they sweep, mop, or vacuum floors, scrub walls and windows, and remove garbage. He/She also does minor repairs and takes on quick tasks, from transporting items to restocking supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carries out basic maintenance work
  • Performs straightforward tasks
  • Addresses guest inquiries with helpful information
  • Directs guests to relevant personnel for solutions
  • Maintains a professional image at all times
  • Handles baggage and items for guests
  • Ensures equipment and facilities are safe, clean and organized
  • Reports any safety concerns or violations to superiors

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A high school degree or GED is preferred
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends
  • Great knowledge of the local area and attractions
  • Basic arithmetic calculation abilities
  • Pleasant demeanor and proactive attributes
  • Polite and professional mannerism

Skills needed for this role

The Porter must have knowledge of how to use guest booking software platforms. He/She must have familiarization with the essential security regulations and great verbal communication skills to interact well with other employees, guests and service providers.
