The Staff Writer provides standard content, such as news reports, reviews and features. He/She works collaboratively with other writers to provide content for television, film, or other entertainment sources. He/She pitches new ideas to the team, receiving constructive criticism, and redrafting your ideas in line with their critique.
Key Responsibilities
- Stays updated with the local, national and international affairs on day to day basis
- Conducts research on various topics and compile necessary content for our write-ups
- Provides notes in written or electronic form
- Makes sure your pieces are objective and accurate. Content should be written by keeping readers’ needs in mind
- Reveals newsworthy stories. You can even plan a campaign around the same
- Builds contacts and sources to use in future research
- Evaluates and interpret the data findings Interview the sources, witnesses etc. and contribute in creating engaging content
- Contributes to content idea generation for publications
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or communications
- Master’s degree in communications or a related field is preferred
- Strong portfolio of relevant stories
- Familiarity with content strategy principles
- Experience with generating or planning content
- A strong network of established readers
- Proficient in MS Office, WordPress, and other relevant digital tools
- In depth knowledge of current events
Skills needed for this role
The Staff Writer must have excellent investigation skills, strong research and analytical skills, and outstanding English writing skills.
