Tax Manager

Tax managers are responsible for accurately preparing and filing state and federal tax documents. They develop tax strategies and policies that help the client or business maintain compliance with local and federal tax laws and regulations. They also work to identify tax problems and propose solutions. Tax managers can work in-house for a business or work as a consultant for multiple clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews federal and state income tax returns in accordance with applicable tax laws
  • Assists in managing audits of federal and state income tax and state and local filings
  • Develops tax strategies to assist clients in being tax-compliant
  • Builds relationships with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise
  • Facilitates, manages the preparation and reviews company federal tax returns and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms
  • Assists Tax Director with accounting for income taxes in the US and for International subsidiaries
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation
  • Supervises members of the tax team to ensure that tax returns are completed correctly
  • Prepares all tax papers on regular basis and handle all data requests

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a tax manager or public accountant role and at least 2 years of experience in a management role
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and Master’s Degree in Accounting Discipline
  • Proven experience as a tax manager, public accountant or similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and relevant laws
  • Strong skills and experience with Word, Outlook, Excel, QuickBooks

Tax Managers should be able to manage multiple projects efficiently. Ultimately, an outstanding tax manager should be able to identify opportunities to grow the company’s client base. They should have the ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives. Tax Managers should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
