The News Anchor works with the news reporters to gather information, broadcast news and interview guests. He/She presents the news stories, national and international current events to the audience in an interesting and unbiased manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Interprets and presents news stories so that viewers or listeners can better understand them
- Interacts with reporters while on the air
- Conducts live interviews with experts who can provide additional information or opinions
- Investigates stories and experiences
- Gathers, verifies, and analyzes data from sources
- Organizes material and write news reports
- Reports breaking news as it unfolds
- Produces news shows, including coordinating reporting
- Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
- Familiarity with local, state, national, and international current events
- Charismatic but professional demeanor while on camera
- Significant social media following
- Ability to analyze and broadcast news coverage for both radio and television stations
- In depth understand the news programs process
Skills needed for this role
The News Anchor must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), good time management skills, strong decision-making skills and outstanding problem-solving skills. He/She must have strong organizational skills and great interpersonal skills.
