News Anchor

The News Anchor works with the news reporters to gather information, broadcast news and interview guests. He/She presents the news stories, national and international current events to the audience in an interesting and unbiased manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interprets and presents news stories so that viewers or listeners can better understand them
  • Interacts with reporters while on the air
  • Conducts live interviews with experts who can provide additional information or opinions
  • Investigates stories and experiences
  • Gathers, verifies, and analyzes data from sources
  • Organizes material and write news reports
  • Reports breaking news as it unfolds
  • Produces news shows, including coordinating reporting
  • Job Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Familiarity with local, state, national, and international current events
  • Charismatic but professional demeanor while on camera
  • Significant social media following
  • Ability to analyze and broadcast news coverage for both radio and television stations
  • In depth understand the news programs process

Skills needed for this role

The News Anchor must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), good time management skills, strong decision-making skills and outstanding problem-solving skills. He/She must have strong organizational skills and great interpersonal skills.
