The Journalist collects and analyzes information of interest, including crime, government and breaking news, and broadcasts it to the public through newspapers, television, radio and the Internet. He/She gathers information, writes coverage, conducts interviews, reports on-air and edit broadcasts.
Key Responsibilities
- Writes and reports stories and updates for use online and in print, radio, and television according to the prescribed style guides
- Assesses leads and pitching captivating story ideas to editors
- Collects and deciphers data and using findings to prepare clean, concise and factual articles
- Keeps records off all notes, interviews, and audio files
- Creates trustworthy relationships with contacts and sources for use in future research
- Keeps up to date with latest news developments and ensuring that you meet all deadlines
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or relevant field.
- Capable of maintaining an ethical and objective standard in reporting.
- Ability to meet deadlines and accurately fact-check information
- Adaptable and able to build rapport with a diverse array of people
- Understanding of shield laws, local ordinances, and legal precedents regarding journalism and the rights of reporters
- Knowledge of communications media and telecommunications technology
- A portfolio of published articles
